July 1st

So half a year has slipped by with no new posts.
What is going on?
Well busy watching the world cup (been pretty tepid, and the fact that all six previous winners of the world cup have made it to the final eight is a sign of stagnation).
Discovered some new board games that are very interesting.
In addition to the Gipf project games (Yinsh, Zertz in particular), traditional German-style games: Settlers of Catan, Euphrat and Tigris, and Carcassonne have all tickled my fancy in recent weeks.

Lucas is 2 and a half, sleeps reliably through the night, is making strides on the potty training, speaks pretty much intelligably (except when tired or upset) and is shaping up into a very nice kid (but he has his moments).

Only TV worth watching is The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Last night the secretary for the environment was on and said in answer to a question about global warming: "It's a hoax." I live in the only country in the world where lunatic dogma is allowed to trump scientific research and common sense.

Well, I'll try and get things moving here.
